The Action brings together three municipalities (Ljubljana, Zagreb and Bratislava) with the companies most experienced in EV charging infrastructure in Cohesion countries, with railway companies, as well as with innovative B2C and B2B transport service operators, to form a new strategic partnership for green urban transport. The Action will jointly evaluate in a real-life trial the potential of urban e-mobility to meet the objectives of urban policies and National Plans, towards the achievement of larger rollouts in future.

Urban-E addresses two key needs for mobility of the future:

EV Charger Networks

The establishment of a charging network that meets the demands of citizens and other demanding users, such as e-taxi, e-shuttle, e-logistics;

Intermodality

Encourages vehicle sharing through the establishment of e-taxi platforms and the choice of different forms of transport (taxi, shuttle, PPP) through a single portal – an intermodal market for transport services.

167 New Charging Stations

Urban-E deploys 144 AC and 23 DC fast charging stations within in the Urban Nodes of Ljubljana, Bratislava, and Zagreb along the TEN-T Core Corridors.

EV Charger Networks

This Action will create EV charger networks in 3 Urban Nodes, fully interoperable with the long-distance infrastructure currently being built by the partners in Slovenia, Slovakia, and Croatia in the course of TEN-T/CEF funded projects CEGC, FAST-E, and EAST-E. The network will be planned by cities, together with charge point operators, the railway companies, and green transportation service providers to help reduce congestion and enable switching to other modes of transport. They will represent the minimal viable pilot size to enable testing all important use cases:

AC Infrastructure

AC Infrastructure

At multiple locations in the cities, to serve citizens without private charging facilities, but also enable e-carsharing vehicles to charge.

DC Infrastructure

DC Infrastructure

At petrol stations or other heavy traffic locations along main commuter routes, to serve commuters, link to long-distance infrastructure, and enable operation of e-taxi and e-logistics services.

Green Taxi Hubs

Designed to serve up to 50 e-taxis in Ljubljana and Zagreb, with 15 AC and 2-3 DC chargers, to charge e-taxi and e-logistic fleets.

Intermodality

Various ICT systems will be implemented and tested to enable B2B and B2C EV customers to find,
charge and pay without any constraints (interoperability) and switch between modes of transport in a dedicated intermodality focus.

Intermodality Marketplace

A unique Intermodality Marketplace, enabling interconnection of data on e-taxis, e-shuttles, and public transportation modes to enabling green end-to-end routing and evaluate integrated ticketing / billing.

Corresponding User Interfaces

Corresponding user interfaces for various use cases (e.g. mobile and web-app for e-shuttle / e-taxi, or e-carsharing customers, portal for drivers), connected to the Intermodality Marketplace.

An Innovative EV-Taxi Platform

An innovative EV-taxi platform will be evaluated, optimizing the cost-efficiency of green car utilization and operation (e.g. routing, matching drivers and cars, etc.)
